52 for 52 - Week 8
The picture of Boysen is from late fall. The reservoir is super low, and all the dirt and green should be about 10-20 feet underwater. I have a feeling this year is really low.
Week 8
Week 8 marks the end of my second month playing HF radio and keeping logs. I have to say I am pretty happy so far. I have been working hard to meet the 52 contacts per week and to stay active on the radio every day. I have yet to miss a day, even if most of the activity is on FT4 or FT8. I have become pretty adept at setting up my station and deploying my antenna, even if I mostly use a mag mount.
SmartLogger Discovery
I discovered a little quirk that was costing me some contacts. I use WSJTX for my FT4 and FT8. I noticed a few times when I got duplicate QSOs, even though I was sure I didn't have any. I discovered that when I click the "call sign" lookup if two QSOs were logged in the same minute (possible with FT4) it would assume one was a duplicate and replace one QSO with the same info from the other in the same minute. I have submitted a bug report to the SmartLogger Discord so we will see what comes of it.
POTA Activations
I made a quick solo trip to Boysen State Park (US-3293). Even though I had some issues getting a good signal out, I was able to get a full activation and make a single phone contact that was also a Park-to-Park.
